Either a man loves his life, every part of his life, or is condemned into becoming resentful to those that do.  “Either or.”  The specific part of him left unloved (if worthy of love) will be the cause of his eventual feelings of resentment and  develop into full blown hate for those that he is convinced have caused his pain.And will then choose and adopt the specific moral code that suits the emotional objective, to manipulate, enslave, or perhaps kill them entirely.  to try and stop the pain to no avail,  and continue to justify the code despite the evidence of it's outcome. To love something is to want to see it thrive, and know it exists with as little suffering as possible. It is not to cause it's suffering and use force to hold it. Or kill it because it feels like it’s making you suffer. Who is John Galt?  He is the man who loves his life. Everyone else in the novel either hates him for it, or unintentionally serve those that hate him and then as their fate becomes clear;  rearange their value system, drop the contradiction and join him.  Dagney Taggart, Eddie Willers  and Francisco D’ Anconia, each love the romantic version of their lives and/or their Daddy’s lives, above their own existence, until their own love comes to it’s eventual contradiction which is the real death of their beloved images.   Hank Reardon Loved his own genius mind but hated his physical body that held that great mind. Willingly sacrificing it for all who needed use of it. Even his true love  Dagney. Jim Taggart, was the opposite, he loved his body’s pleasures but hated his infernal mind as if it was the enemy!. (which by it’s value system, sadly, truly was) The rest of the characters resented and hated those that dared love anything else but their own screwed up values.  In order to live, we must each love our life, all of it, our body, our mind and our romantic version of the what it could be. If any of these things dominate or force the other into submission we end up sacrificing the very lives that are the reason for any of it. If the programming has contradictions, the hard drive that hosts it eventually crashes.     We either love our life or we love something else. Either way that which we love wins.  Hate is the love of destruction. Which destroys the life that is feeling the hate. The philosophy of Objectivism, or Altruism is a systematic tool used to support what it is each of us loves, and is used to build that specific value.  The love comes first, the moral code develops naturally.And if the value changes so does the system.  Many Objectivists, instead of loving their own lives, hate those that appear to be sacrificing them. And use the objectivist philosophy as a weapon to destroy what it is they hate. Galt’s Motor becomes project X!  These two machines in Atlas Shrugged, are each models of a human it’s values and it’s ethical system together in motion.  One automatically  promotes life and the mind that designed it, the other destroys all and itself. And Rand's critics say she is cold and uncaring!  It is all about LOVE!  What does that say about them???
