Unlocking the music~

I watched the first episode of “House” this week, and in it was the image of a locked piano.  This I thought symbolized the true nature of House and anyone like him.  Anyone who has intentionally locked the music away.  The music is representative of ones passion for life.  We are like the instruments that can be out of tune, or worse, locked up in our cases  forever.  In poor House’s situation he is fearful of intimacy.   There is pain associated with closeness in all relationships.  Someone has abused the trust that should have been there in his past experiences or introductions to intimacy.  House is an atheist, but he is emotionally sure this fear is real, not unlike a religious person who is sure God is real, and acts in accordance 

He is unaware of anyone who would not take advantage of him, if he let his guard down.   In fact he has surrounded himself with people that he does not intend to ever let his guard down.  People he doesn’t fully respect, due to character flaws. 

The interesting thing will be in the upcoming episodes.  Now that House knows the nature of his intimacy problems, and wants to “get better”, how will his old environment, his friends and coworkers, respond to his needed or desired changes?  They will not trust him, they will expect him to take advantage of them if they let down their guards.  After all they have been trained to expect that form him.  

He could decide to change his whole environment, change hospital start from scratch, but I don’t think that is good enough for a guy as smart as he is supposed to be. 

He needs to make this his ego project, and enroll his friends in the ultimate challenge.  Use the white board and everything! Why Not!  It is His life and he is losing it, nit unlike his patients.  Are their lives more valuable than his?  Why?
